Today (January 23rd) three firefighters and a woman were injured in a two-alarm fire in Fairfax County. Firefighter responded to the call and entered the building. Shortly after a flashover occurs, as reported by the incident command, and three firefighters were injured. As a firefighter it is very important to remember all the training you receive. In this case these three firefighters should have noticed the signs that a flashover was going to occur and exited the building to ensure their safety. Remember it's our lives before others. It is a hard concept to follow considering we put our lives on the lines to save others. In a situation like the one these three encountered, you need to get out of the house.
A friend from home is a firefighter and I'm looking forward to learning more about how I can do my part as a citizen.
