Early Morning Fire

Around 1:30am in Chapman Twp. multiple fire departments including Selinsgrove were dispatched to a house fire with reported people trapped. The first chief on the scene said that everybody was accounted for and reported the house was fully engulfed in flames. After about a 15 minute drive me along with 5 others in our ladder truck got to the scene and saw the house was burnt to the ground with flames about 50ft in the air.

About 30 minutes in it was brought to the chiefs attention that everybody was not accounted for. We were told 2 residents were missing and their cars were at the house which led us to believe they were home. We were unable to locate the residents due to fire conditions, but it is still unclear to as if they were still in the house. We can only hope they made it out safely.

Early Morning Accident

This morning around 7:45am a School Van carrying some students was struck by a pick up truck and then hit again by a Suzuki SUV causing the van to flip over onto its side. The drivers of the SUV and pickup truck did not suffer any injuries, but some students were transported to the local hospital for very minor injuries. The accident caused Route 522 by Salem Road to be shutdown for about an hour while the vehicles and debris were removed.

Surprise Winter Storm

House lost in fire.

Last Monday marked the first day of spring break for Susquehanna. On Monday there a surprise snow and rain storm that caused many issues. Late Monday into Tuesday Selinsgrove Fire Department was dispatched to wires down and unknown type of fire. The chief was escorted by snow plow to the house and when he arrived he reported a fully involved house fire. All the fire trucks had to then be escorted by snow plow to the house. After six hours of fighting the fire the fire was finally out, but the house was lost.
